Crowns

A crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth when a tooth is considered to be too weak to bear a filling. The cap normally consists of an inner metal cap with porcelain on the outside. However, the crown can also be completely ceramic or zirkonium if this is cosmetically preferred.
A crown is made when a tooth fractures either by accident, due to big fillings or caries (cavities). Often a crown is also made after root-canal treatment or in the case of larger fillings to prevent the tooth from fracturing.

Bridges

A bridge is constructed where there is need for replacing a missing tooth. The neighbouring teeth will be included in the bridge by fitting a crown over each of them. To fill the place of the missing tooth a middle piece shaped as a crown links the neighbouring crowns forming a bridge. The crowns are joined by a gold framework on the inside with porcelain on the outside.

implantatImplants are small titanium screws that are placed in the jaw bone to replace the roots of missing teeth. Following a healing period where the implants grow fully integrated into the bone, we can construct crowns or bridges according to the need of the patient.

Implants can also be used to stabilise dentures.

The implant system used at our clinic is Straumann which is a well renown and thoroughly tested system. For more information visit: http://www.straumann.com/ and www.biotech-dental.com/.

At our clinic we carry out many cosmetic treatments including veneers, crowns and whitening treatments.

Veneers

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded onto the tooth after having prepared it for the treatment. The veneers are placed only so that they cover the visible parts of the teeth. They are often used in the front of the mouth on the most visible teeth where there is a wish to change the aspect of the teeth along with preserving as much of the tooth substance as possible.

Whitening

By using a special whitening gel that is activated using a special lamp, we can whiten teeth over 3-4 sessions of 15 minutes each.
After the whitening procedure it is necessary to follow a specific diet avoiding certain food and drinks with dark colouring for the first 24 hours. This is due to the fact that the teeth can be more susceptible to colouring within the first 24 hours after the procedure.
Although it is uncommon, some sensitivity may occur during the first 24 hours after the whitening procedure. This can be alleviated by a pain killer or by chewing flouride chewing gum.

We perform all forms of dental surgery.

andenkirurgi

In some cases wisdom teeth do not erupt as normally expected or there may not be enough space for them to erupt. In both cases there is a need for removal of the teeth.

This can be done in two ways:
Extraction of the tooth is used when it is relatively accessible and is not impacted in the jaw bone.
Another option is to remove the tooth by using the procedure of amotio which is a surgical procedure. It is a more demanding procedure to carry out, and therefore it can also leave more discomfort after the treatment. Normally there will be a few stitches after the removal of the tooth to ease the healing process.

Bone re-construction and grafting:
In cases where there is insufficient bone to insert implants, it may be necessary to insert artificial bone or perform a bone transplant from one place to the desired place of the future implant. This causes a further healing period before the implant can be inserted.

Biopsies:
A biopsy may be taken when there is a need for determining a diagnosis when there is uncertainty with respect to the diagnosis.

Periodontal surgery:
Under the circumstance that there are persisting bleeding deep gingival pockets despite sufficient oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings, a correction of the gums can be carried out with an extensive cleaning of the teeth.
